Imagine sitting your younger self down for a talk… knowing what you know now, what would you say?
I would elaborate on two very important topics, which I share here.
March is National Nutrition Month and this year’s theme is “Fuel for the Future”, and eating with sustainability in mind to nourish ourselves and protect the environment.
While this year’s theme looks ahead to the future of the planet, I’d like to offer my reflections on:
1) fueling for YOUR future, and
2) looking back and imagining what I would tell my younger self, knowing what she was struggling with.
You can learn about that in my 3-part blog series, My Struggle With an Eating Disorder.
Now, working with so many teenage athletes that also struggle with disordered eating, I understand all too well the causes, but also the health consequences that show up years later from eating habits formed now, in their younger years.
Watch this video where I unpack these two main points that I would tell my younger self:
- don’t compare yourself to others
- fuel your body for your future
