Living healthy and achieving optimal performance is the cornerstone of my work, with clients of every age and fitness level. But despite the variety of my clientele, one thing they all have in common is they want to save money. So part of my work is providing hacks and tips on just that… such as my recent blog, Easy Swaps to Save Money on Your Grocery Bill.
One area that deserves a money-saving hack is in the area of electrolyte supplements. For those of you who follow my blog, you’ll know I’ve talked a lot about the critical importance of not just proper hydration, but electrolytes, which hydration isn’t possible without! No matter the weather, sweating will deplete you of water and salt. Check out my blog to be more on top of this: Staying Hydrated: A Step-By-Step Approach to Calculating Your Sweat Rate.
Watch my video to learn how you can (and should!) make a perfectly delicious homemade drink that is packed with electrolytes so you never have to waste money again. Then scroll down for the products I discuss, and more resources to help you!
*Disclaimer: I earn a small commission on these products from Amazon links at no cost to you.

Thank you for breaking down the science behind electrolytes! I always knew they were important, but understanding the balance of sodium, potassium, and magnesium makes so much sense. Quick question – if I’m working out for less than an hour, would you still recommend using these DIY electrolyte packets, or is plain water enough?
You’re welcome! And yes if you’re training an hour or less, plain water is fine unless you’re a heavy/salty sweater, or it’s really hot outside where you’re training or extra intense. Then the threshold lowers to 45 minutes.
